Vintage Inspired Summer Outfit Solutions!
Yes summer is a little bit hit and miss but we can either hide indoors, under our duvets (tempting sometimes, I know) or we can put on our best red lipstick and get dressed up anyway!
We are British, we aren't going to let a little rain spoil our fun!
With that in mind we've put together some vintage style outfit ideas for some typical summer occasions...
First up, we are off to the Races...
Ascot is just next week and it is the perfect excuse to get all dolled up!
We've selected the Marilyn Dress (£95) in cherry red with a black waist sash. It's fun and flirty, can be layered easily and when you team it with our accessories you'll be sure to turn some heads.
We've chosen the Cherry Rose Hat (£135) (You really can't go over the top at the races), our Vintage Style Evening Bag in Black (£70) and classic Red Satin Pumps (£35).
Races not your style? How about a Pool Party?!
Yes, we are hoping it is an indoor pool or off on a tropical location, but we girls can dream...
You can't go wrong in one of our Classic 50's style Swimming Costumes. We have a range of colours and prints to suit everyone and the fabulous form flattering fit is a dream whether you are a size 8 or 18.
We've selected this hot pink retro one piece bathing suit (£65) and teamed it with turquoise accessories - a chiffon scarf (£8.50), Frenchy Sunglasses (£10) and the Curves Handbag (£50) as you always need a place to keep your lipstick!
Summer is also Wedding Season...
A wedding is one time you can happily get dressed up and enjoy yourself. We know you want to look fantastic but not like you are trying to steal the lime light - worry not, we are here to help!
This outfit is classic and elegant but not too attention grabbing. We adore the Seeing Stripes Dress - a 50s style dress (£100) which can be worn on it's own for the day, then why not add a petticoat for the evening do?! We've added the Ascot Hat in navy (£115) with Nora shoes in blue (£45) and ever optimistic, the Katherine Sunglasses (£10) - also helpful if you're prone to shedding happy tears!
Sadly summer isn't all play - we have to work too...
Workwear can be tricky, especially if you want to show off a little bit of your personality! The pinstriped Madison Dress (£95) solves all your problems. It is businesslike and elegant but you will look and feel amazing! If, like me, you can't face heels all day, these Glitter pumps (£65) are a wonderful option, who can resist the cheeky Kitty Geek Glasses (£10) and the Sin City Bag (£60) ties the whole look together perfectly.
After all that hard work, you surely deserve a cocktail?!
Everyone need a classic little black dress and the Ellie Dress (£115) is a great choice! This elegant and demure dress hints at a naughtier side and can easily be dressed up or down. For early evening cocktails we've accessorised with the kitsch Fruity Clip (£22.50), the Drinks On Me Bag (£25) - how could we resist - and the delightful Vivienne Westwood Lady Dragon Bow shoes (£120).
Dreaming of Sunshine for a Garden Party
Garden Parties are the ideal occasion to dress up in florals, whether you are off to meet the Queen or sipping Pimms under some bunting in your neighbours back garden. We've selected the oh-so romantic Carmen Swing Dress in Pale Pink (£135) which can be worn with or without a petticoat. We couldn't resist pairing it with the Carmen Hat - a fruity and floral delight (£135), the dainty pink satin pumps (£35) and the Queenie Bamboo Bag (£32.50)
Hopefully that has given you some inspiration for all your summer occasions!
